Get Ready for Japan - Training programme for Japanese business practices

The EU-Japan Centre is organising an exclusive 2-phase training programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on Japanese business practices and communication styles called "Get Ready for Japan". In addition, the programme aims to provide insights into the decision-making process within Japanese companies and improve understanding of their negotiation style and hierarchy.

What can you expect?

First phase:

The first phase is an online programme from 20-24 October 2025, during which participants will conduct virtual case studies and cross-cultural lectures and gain insights into the Japanese business environment and management practices.

Second phase:

The second phase is an on-site programme in Tokyo from 10-14 November 2025. During this phase, participants will have the opportunity to participate in interactive seminars and workshops and schedule individual company meetings (ICMs) with Japanese companies of interest. The EU-Japan Centre team and interpreters will facilitate these ICMs, allowing SMEs to explore existing or new opportunities for growth and cooperation.

Who is the programme aimed at?

The programme is aimed at managers or executives working for an SME based in the European Union or in a country associated with the Single Market Programme, SME pillar. The head office of the company must be located in an EU/SMP country. The number of participants is limited to 14 persons.

What costs are covered?

The EU-Japan Centre will cover all costs associated with the training, such as speaker fees, room rental, transport for group activities and interpreters. All participants are responsible for covering their travelling and living expenses in Japan, including accommodation.

Application deadline is 04 September 2025
