Choose Europe: EU presents new start-up strategy

As part of its "Choose Europe" location campaign, the European Commission has presented a new strategy for start-ups and scale-ups that aims to establish Europe as a leading location for technology-orientated start-ups and high-growth companies in the long term. The strategy is a key part of ongoing efforts to make the European start-up ecosystem more visible and attractive internationally.

At the centre of the newly published start-up strategy are five key areas of action aimed at making Europe more attractive and efficient for technology-oriented start-ups. This includes reducing bureaucracy in favour of an innovation-friendly environment. Access to financing should also be improved through a more integrated EU venture capital market and a more active role for institutional investors. In order to accelerate the path from research to the market, targeted measures for faster market introduction are to be promoted. Another focus is on recruiting and retaining highly qualified specialists. In addition, start-ups should be able to access infrastructures, networks and support services more easily in future thanks to better harmonised and simplified framework conditions.
