Exchange of experience in Ireland
Saxony-Anhalt is facing a major change in the next few years - the construction of the Intel factory. To prepare for this, the Enterprise Europe Network Saxony-Anhalt travelled to Ireland in March 2023 together with a delegation consisting of representatives from Saxony-Anhalt's business community, public institutions and universities to explore the impact of the Intel relocation on the economy. The trip provided a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the developments and challenges associated with the relocation of a global technology company such as Intel.
During the trip, discussions were held with representatives from local chambers of commerce, universities and other public bodies about the largely positive impact Intel's relocation has had on the economy and surrounding counties, such as several of Intel's incentive programmes that support surrounding counties, which also has a spill-over effect on SMEs. Discussions with representatives from the University of Dublin focussed more on the positive impact of the Intel relocation on the education sector - partnerships have been formed with universities and research institutions to nurture talent and drive research projects.
